3 Sixes in 3 Balls: How Rahmanullah Gurbaz Almost Stole a ‘Double Super Over’ Thriller from South Africa Cricket has a funny way of making you believe in the impossible. On Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the T20 World Cup 2026 witnessed a match that didn't just break the scales of drama—it obliterated them. In a Group D "Group of Death" encounter, Afghanistan and South Africa pushed each other into the first-ever Double Super Over in T20 World Cup history. While the Proteas walked away with the points, the night belonged to one man: Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The Setup: Chaos in Ahmedabad Chasing a target of 188 set by South Africa (powered by fifties from Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton), Afghanistan looked down and out multiple times. Gurbaz had already played a blinder, smashing 84 off 42 balls, but his dismissal in the 13th over seemed to signal the end. However, a calamitous final over from Kagiso Rabada—featuring two no-balls and a wide—allowed Afghanistan to tie the game at 187. The madness was only just beginning. Super Over #1: The Tristan Stubbs Rescue Afghanistan batted first in the first tie-breaker, posting a solid 17 runs. South Africa’s chase was stuttering until Tristan Stubbs smoked a six off the very last ball from Fazalhaq Farooqi. Score: Tied again. Onto the second Super Over. Super Over #2: The Gurbaz Storm The rules changed. Farooqi couldn't bowl again; Lungi Ngidi was ineligible. South Africa batted first and plundered 23 runs off Azmatullah Omarzai, with David Miller and Stubbs looking unstoppable. Chasing 24, Afghanistan’s chances looked bleak when Mohammad Nabi fell on the second ball to Keshav Maharaj. The equation: 24 needed off 4 balls. https://magicwin247id.com/
